I started to play with Unity and creating realistic spaces where the potential for emotional connection could grow. I created a landscape with trees from the free asset store and a person to make a connection to another body in the space.
Because of my lack of knowledge and skill in Unity I was able to control the view and move through the space, only look from one camera around the space. I am interested in building a space where the player can move around the space and speak to different entities of the space. This is where I have found spaces are the most immersive and convincing because of the response of the space to the human or avatar.
I was able then to display the space through an application on my iPhone where I could control the view and navigate around from one spot in the space.
By allowing the body to be able to navigate around the objects in the frame, it produces more inquison about the space and further interaction and immersion. The shadows in the space were realistic and this gave an obvious sense of directional light an the objects in the scene were basic cognitive objects of outdoors and nature. This experiment was most useful in having a go and figuring out a little more about Unity as well as the types of outputs that could be available for testing. I found that these spaces were helpful to figure out what kind of speeds are most realistic for movement control and how assets and materials worked in unity.
