Personify; embodiment and presence in virtual spaces
Initially my thinking for 'personify' as a title was in discussing the fact that mainly the idea of digital space doesn't have the human qualities which we talk about physical space. I wanted to try to utilise this space in a way which could carry the socially aspects that we have in physical space. When you assess the title in relation to post-anthropocentrism however, the thinking is not so much to give the entity a 'human' quality, it is about acknowledging that the entity is not 'human' but deserves the same respect that we regard humans to have. The thinking is that it should not have to be human to gain ethical respect. The title therefore i think might be fitting for the digital aspect as i haven't looked into post-anthropocentric notions towards digital space but if it is associated to giving materials human qualities then it might be ill-fitting. I looked at other words which could name the project better however i couldn't find any which felt like they titled the project clearly.
With the subtitle, - embodiment and presence in virtual space - i hope that it explains that the notion of personification is being geared towards the virtual environment and not the physical material. For this reason i have decided to keep the title the same.
