Initial Build in Unity

To create the space I had to initially look at the terrain of the environment that I would be creating. I decided to choose a hilly terrain as the viewer would be more immersed in the trees than they might have been on a flat terrain. Secondly I had to decide where the trees would be grouped together and where the area of deforestation would happen. I decided to have this space being deforested on the downward slope of the terrain as this area continued on in view for a longer space then up hill. This impact meant that when the trees were cleared the derelict space would be heightened. I decided to keep some of the trees in the surrounding area idle as I wanted the area to be inhabited by lots of trees initially so the impact was greater.

An important aspect of the first build was to include the VR Vive hand controllers so the person has agency over the space that they are virtually inhabit.
