Gestures. Interaction. Feedback Loop.

Updated: Sep 6, 2018

How might the action in the virtual space be informed by the physical space?

What might it look like to paint something with your hand?

What might it look like to change the material of something with your hand?

I reenacted a moment where a material is changed with stains to see:

1. What the visual change to the material was.

2. How the body moved when this material was being changed.

A common visual change to the material is a gloss and discolouration. Many stains even when they are intended to be a matte finish, have a glow tint to them when the solvent is applied. This could be a visual signifier of a material change.

Identified gestures:

- Swipe

- Touch

- Rub

Trialing Gesture Detection:

Peace sign = Play Particle System - Smoke. / Fist = Stop Particle System - Smoke.

More Trials:

Stroke + Interact with Object = Stop Particle System - Smoke + Change material

Testing:

The gesture detection pack also includes an easy trigger set up so objects can be easily activated and trigger different effects.
